2009 Women's Senior European Championships
Warsaw, August 2, 2008. The Control Committee for the 2009 Women’s Senior European Championships joined this weekend the representatives of the Polish Volleyball Federation in Warsaw in order to discuss several topics which deal with this much anticipated event.
CEV Vice-President Dr. Jan Hronek was warmly welcomed by Mr. Miroslaw Przedpelski, President of the Polish Volleyball Federation, who was pleased to analyze the current state of the preliminary activities along with the CEV delegates.
In order not to overlap the Women’s European Basketball Championships, which are also set to take place in Poland in about 12 months, the Volleyball Champs have been slightly postponed in comparison with the previous time schedule and will be staged from September 25 to October 4, 2009. This is the first time ever the Women’s European Volleyball Championships will be organized in Poland and also in four different cities, as Bydgoszcz, Lodz, Katowice and Wroclaw will be all involved in the staging of the event.
Dr. Hronek checked along with the local Organizing Committee the state of the art for the various competition, logistical, marketing and media issues the Polish Volleyball Federation is supposed to comply with and was happy to ascertain the progresses achieved over the last months and the traditional professionalism of the Polish counterpart.
A completely brand-new competition hall is currently under construction in Lodz, with a capacity of 11,000 seats, and this is the venue where the finals are going to be played for the delight of the many enthusiastic Polish volleyball fans.
