On Thursday, the youngsters from Bulgaria easily and as expected made easy work of Estonia, thus securing another 3-0 victory, and not allowing the rival to exceed 20 points in any set. This result takes Bulgaria to the top of Pool I on nine points after completion of the first three rounds.
Croatia extended their brilliant streak as well, but they had to put in a lot of effort to achieve another triumph. Poland managed to get back after losing the opening sets, but Croatia remained persistent in the tie-break and with 3-2, they recorded yet another victory – the third in a row. After two setbacks, the Netherlands finally managed to win. In the match with hosts Serbia, the young Oranjes fought bravely, especially in the second and third sets to claim a 3-0 win. In the last game of the third day, after yesterday’s surprising defeat at the hands of Croatia, Italy managed to achieve their second victory in the competition, as the Azzurrine easily defeated Georgia with a maximum score of 3-0.
In Pool II, which is being contested in Békéscsaba, Slovenia and Greece boast a maximum record of three wins in as many matches as well. On Thursday, they beat Germany and Romania, respectively, by the same score (3-1) to keep an immaculate record in the competition. Later in the afternoon and evening, hosts Hungary and Türkiye improved their win-loss record to 2-1 after edging Belgium and France in four sets as well.
Friday is a rest day at #EuroVolleyU19W before the competition resumes on Saturday.
